The Health Of Nine KM Ratu Samudra Mulya Crews That Overturned In The Java Sea Begins To Improve

PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Social Service said the health conditions of nine crew members of the Ratu Samudra Mulya Motorboat (KM) had improved after receiving medical treatment.

The nine crew members were victims of a capsized ship in the Java Sea, Indramayu, West Java, which was evacuated by the Bina Ocean 20 tugboat, the Palembang National SAR Agency and the Palembang Navy Base, on Monday, April 11.

"When they arrived in Palembang, we treated them at the Budi Perkasa Panti Budi Perkasa, Ministry of Social Affairs KM5, in general their condition is improving," said Head of the South Sumatra Social Service, Mirwansyah, in Palembang, Wednesday.

According to him, the nine crew members who were stranded at sea for days received good care and services borne by the government through the Ministry of Social Affairs.

After the health conditions and personal data collection of each victim was completed, he confirmed, the Ministry of Social Affairs would return them to their original areas.

"We all help, return them to their respective hometowns," he added.

It is known that the nine crew members are Karim (master), Buchori (Head of the Engine Room) and the crew (ABK) namely Andiana, Anda Lesmana, Ferdi Fernando, Mustafa M, Abdul Karim, Giri Purnama and Eko P.

They were nine of the 10 crew members of the fishing boat KM Ratu Samudra Mulya who were rescued after their boat capsized due to being hit by big waves while fishing for squid in the Java Sea waters, Indramayu, on Saturday, April 3.

Meanwhile, another crew member is still missing, named Ato, a resident of Patrol, Indramayu.

The survivors were found by the crew of the Bina Ocean 20 tugboat which was passing through the waters to the city of Palembang, on Thursday (8/4) morning at around 06.00 WIB.

When found, the crew kept screaming for help, floating on the sea which was in extreme weather conditions.

They were escorted by TB Ocean 20 to the Port of Boom Baru Palembang, escorted by personnel from the Indonesian Navy Base and the local Basarnas, to get further assistance handled by the South Sumatra Social Service.
