Hasyim Asy'ari Becomes The Chairperson Of The KPU For The 2022-2027 Period

JAKARTA - Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari becomes the Chairman of the KPU for the period 2022-2027.

"Our commitment, what has been built, was prepared by the first working generation, which we took good care of, we inherited, and of course we will make renewals according to the conditions of the times," said Hasyim when delivering his remarks after the handover of positions at KPU RI office, Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 12.

He revealed that the 2022-2027 KPU is committed to creating various innovations, developments, and various improvements that adapt to the challenges of the times. The KPU plenary meeting after the inauguration of the KPU commissioners for the 2022-2027 period which took place at the KPU RI Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, resulted in Hasyim Asy' ari as the Chairperson of the KPU. The handover ceremony began with the signing of the Official Handover by the Chairperson of the KPU for the 2021-2022 period, Ilham Saputra, which was then followed by other KPU commissioners for the 2017-2022 period. Then, followed by the signing by the KPU commissioners for the 2022-2027 period. which begins with Hasyim Asy'ari before being followed by other members.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the KPU for the 2021-2022 period, Ilham Saputra, expressed his hopes regarding the general election (Pemilu) and the simultaneous regional head election (Pilkada) in 2024, especially regarding hoaxes and disinformation by 2024. He hoped that the 2022-2027 KPU could disseminate information to the public properly, given the experience of the rush of hoaxes and disinformation in the 2019 election. "I am sure that the 2022-2027 KPU will be able to succeed in the 2024 Election and the upcoming 2024 Pilkada," said Ilham.
