Condition of the North Sumatra DPRD Building in Medan/Satria H-VOI

MEDAN - A demonstration by a group of students who are members of the North Sumatra Student Executive Board (BEM) Alliance united in the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives building, was canceled.

Based on VOI monitoring at the location, it was seen that activities at the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives building were running as usual. Dozens of Civil Service Police Unit officers were seen standing guard in front of the building.

Traffic flow to the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives building was also monitored smoothly.

President of the University of North Sumatra (USU), M Rizki Fadillah, said that the action was canceled because his party would still carry out a grand consolidation, tonight.

"Today we are in the grand consolidation stage of the United North Sumatra BEM alliance. This is the fourth one", Rizki told VOI, Monday, April 11.

He said the consolidation had been done 3 times. He explained that the consolidation was attended by 14 campuses in the city of Medan.

"We give homework for each campus to consolidate it internally so that the movement is strengthened", he said.

Rizki could not confirm when the United North Sumatra BEM Alliance took to the streets. All decisions, he said, would be taken in a grand consolidation later.

"Within this week it is possible to go down, but I am not the one who makes the decision, in the forum, it will be discussed when it will go down, including the target of the action. I am not the coordinator, we are still in the consolidation stage", he explained.

In addition, Rizki emphasized that there is no difference in perception among the dozens of campuses that are members of the United North Sumatra BEM.

"There is no difference in perception, we discuss any issues that have been arrested.

Each campus is assigned to study, in this grand consolidation it is poured out", he said.

In addition, his party will not be affected by President Joko Widodo's affirmation of rejecting the three-term discourse or postponing the election. He suspects that Jokowi's statement is only aimed at reducing the issues that are developing.

"We still need to speak out. North Sumatra has anxieties, don't take it as a step to reduce our issues", he said.
