Anglers Trapped In Blitar's Lekso River, Rescued By Officers With Ropes In The Midst Of Fast Currents

BLITAR - Officers from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Blitar Regency, East Java helped rescue anglers who were caught in a flood in the Lekso River delta in Majekan Hamlet, Wlingi Sub-district/District. They were evacuated by rope.

Head of BPBD Blitar Regency Ivong Berttyanto said there were two anglers who were trapped. They initially fished in the delta of the Lekso River in Majekan Hamlet, Wlingten Blitar Village/Sub-district. When leaving for the location, the Wlingi sub-district and its surroundings were sunny, but in fact it was raining heavily in the upper reaches of the river.

"It was raining heavily in the upper reaches of the river, so the water flow increased quite drastically and quickly. The two residents were trapped in the location of the river delta," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 8.

The anglers caught in the flood are Edi Suparan (55) and Suntoro (48), both of whom are residents of the Wlingi Sub-District/District, Blitar Regency.

After receiving this information, the BPBD immediately dispatched a team from the BPBD Blitar Regency Rapid Response Unit (URC). There were five personnel deployed in the process of evacuating the trapped residents.

Officers swiftly evacuated both of them. The team evacuated the two anglers with a rope that was attached between the delta and the mainland which was attached to a tree in a nearby location.

The team wore standard equipment for evacuation and then helped the victims. Both of them were finally saved.
