MAGELANG – Four students with the status of students in Magelang, Central Java were named suspects for the violent assault with sharp weapons that resulted in the victim being injured on Jalan Panembahan Senopati, Magelang City.

The Magelang City Police Chief, AKBP Yolanda Evalyn Sebayang, explained that the beating incident began with the circulation of a TikTok video showing a group of youths about to cause trouble.

"Chronologically, Saturday (March 26), at around 22.30, the suspect gathered together with HRI's children, RPP and 30 other people who joined the WhatsApp Destroyer group. It was a futsalan WhatsApp group throughout Magelang City. At that time someone sent a TikTok video to the Destroyer about Gaza14 which caused trouble in Magelang City," explained Yolanda in a written statement received, Thursday, April 7, evening.

Yolanda revealed that based on the information from the perpetrator, YMS (18), he and his colleagues agreed to go around Magelang City to anticipate the group that would cause trouble.

Early Sunday (March 27), Yolanda said, at around 00.15 WIB, the YMS group passed by Jalan Panembahan Senopati. And at that time, he met a group of people who were suspected of causing trouble in Magelang City.

“The perpetrators immediately ganged up on the victim of AHR (14). The victim was able to save himself, but the perpetrators continued to chase the victim while slashing a sharp weapon towards the body and beating the victim," he explained.

"After learning that the victim was not a group of people suspected of causing trouble in Magelang City, the group of perpetrators then left the victim," continued Yolanda.
