JAMBI - The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jambi Regional Police thwarted the smuggling of 6,000 lobster seeds, which were suspected to be sent to Singapore.
The police also arrested seven perpetrators from a house that was used as a temporary shelter to fill oxygen before being sent back.
Jambi Police Director of Crime and Investigation, Commissioner Christian Tory, said the arrests were made at around 05.30 WIB, in Pasar Baru Village, Muarabulian District, Batanghari Regency, Jambi.
Initially, on Wednesday, April 6, the Operational Team of Sub-Directorate IV of Certain Crimes Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at the Jambi Regional Police received information that lobster seeds would enter Jambi from the direction of South Sumatra.
After an investigation was carried out, on Thursday morning at around 03.00 WIB, the Operational Team of Sub-Directorate IV team of the Jambi Special Criminal Investigation Police got a house in the Muarabulian area which was used as a temporary shelter and packed lobster seeds before being smuggled out of the country.
The Police then carried out raids and secured the perpetrators and evidence.
"At the location, a tarpaulin pond was also found containing lobster seeds", said Christian Toty.
As a result of the raid, the perpetrators who were arrested were RP, MKH, UN, DM, Al, AMH, and GR where they each have their respective roles in carrying out their duties.
Meanwhile, 6,100 lobster seeds were secured, with details of 5,050 pearls and 1,050 sands.
"We are still calculating the rupiah value, but what is clear is that for the type of pearl one tail is around IDR 150 thousand to IDR 200 thousand, and the type of sand is IDR 100 thousand per head", Christian said, quoted by Antara.
