JEMBER - The government of Jember Regency, East Java, asked PT Semen Imasco Asiatic's plan to blast limestone mines in Gunung Sadeng to stop.

"We do not allow PT Semen Imasco to carry out blasting activities because there are still things we need to discuss with the company," said regional secretary Jember Mirfano in the local district, Thursday, April 7.

According to him, the information on the first blast was carried out on Wednesday, April 6, and received the information on Tuesday, April 5 because PT Semen Imasco sent the notification letter to the Puger District Leadership Conference (Muspika).

"Yesterday, Wednesday, April 6, we sent a verification team in the field after hearing information that the blasting will still be carried out because the Jember Regency Government has sent a letter regarding the termination of blasting activities," he said, quoted by Antara.

From the results of verification in the field, he continued, the fact that the location to be blown up was the land of former CV DU land management rights which had been revoked by the Jember Regency Government in March 2022.

"After the meeting, finally the initial blast was canceled and it was agreed that PT Imasco would postpone the blasting activity," he said.

Mirfano said the Jember Regency Government is still conducting an inventory and improving governance of regional property assets in Gunung Sadeng, including land management rights which are currently managed by PT Semen Imasco Asiatic.

"In connection with this, PT Semen Imasco is not permitted to carry out blasting before completing the obligation to pay the regional original revenue contribution (PAD) during 2019, 2020, and 2021," he said.

Meanwhile, Public Relations of PT Semen Imasco Asiatic Sugianto, when confirmed by telephone, said that his party was still unable to fulfill the request of the Jember Regency Government regarding the payment of the PAD contribution shortage because they were still studying the laws governing it.

"We will postpone the blasting in the limestone mining area indefinitely while waiting for a solution and will meet with the Jember Regional Secretary," he said.
