Fire Extinguishing In Johar Baru Is Constrained By Narrow Sentiong Railway Crossing

JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers encountered problems while extinguishing fires on Jalan Kawi-kawi Atas, RT 17/08, Johar Baru Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta.

The obstacle is due to the narrow access of vehicle lanes and railroad crossings. Head of the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Asril Rizal confirmed that there were obstacles in the process of extinguishing the fire in the densely populated area of Johar Baru.

"The obstacles are because of the small road and the crowds of people," Asril told reporters, Wednesday, April 6.

In addition to the small road access, a number of fire trucks heading to the location were also hampered by the Sentiong railway crossing, Johar Baru.

"The problem is that on the railroad tracks there are concrete blockades (MCB) so maneuvering (cars) is difficult," said Head of the Gambir Platoon Sector 1 Gulkarmat Central Jakarta Sub-dept. Baidilah to VOI at the site of the fire.

Previously, it was reported that a fire occurred in a densely populated area on Jalan Kawi-kawi Atas, RT 17/08, Johar Baru Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 6, afternoon.

The fire is thought to have originated from a short circuit in the house of one of the residents. According to Sumi, 54, a resident around the location of the fire, she knew from her husband who shouted fire.

"After washing the dishes, suddenly my husband saw that there was a fire and it just grew bigger. The fire appeared from the 2nd floor. I immediately panicked and left the house, it turned out that the fire had already burned one house on that floor," he told VOI at the fire site, Wednesday April 6.

Luckily, the fire did not spread to other residents' houses after being sprayed by 15 fire engines.
