JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said there are 14 million people who are predicted to return home from Jabodetabek at this year's Lebaran.

"I also need to convey that the number of homecomers this year is estimated at 85 million people. Homecomers from Jabodetabek are estimated to be 14 million," Jokowi said in a video description posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, April 6.

Of this amount, Jokowi estimates that 47 percent of the people will return to their hometowns using private vehicles. Thus, the government will prepare itself to provide the best service to travelers.

"Of course the government will work hard to provide maximum service so that travelers can travel safely and comfortably," he said.

Previously, Jokowi had announced joint leave for Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri from April 29 to May 4-6 2022. Meanwhile, national holidays fell on May 2-3.

There are no further details regarding this joint leave. All regulations will be made by the ministers through a Joint Decree (SKB).

Jokowi hopes that the joint leave can be used by the community to stay in touch with parents, relatives and friends.

However, Jokowi asked the public to continue to obey health protocols because the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over.
