Prof Wiku: Travelers Are Advised To Get A Boost Two Weeks Before Departure

JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Team of Experts and Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Prof Wiku Adisasmito asked people who will carry out homecoming activities to fulfill the booster vaccination dose at least two weeks earlier.

"The public is advised to immediately fulfill the complete vaccination and booster doses for at least two weeks, especially before carrying out large-scale social activities such as going home," said Wiku, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 5.

This is because immunity cannot be formed instantly, but takes one to two weeks after being vaccinated.

"Immunity can not be formed instantly, immunologists agree that the process of formation of antibodies in the body on average takes one to two weeks after injection," he said.

Therefore, the Task Force asks people who have not met the complete vaccine dose or booster to immediately vaccinate.

"This fact should be an encouragement for us to immediately get a full dose of vaccine and a booster to be more ready to do activities in optimal health conditions," he said.

In addition, the public is also asked to always comply with health protocols.

The public is also asked to be honest by not traveling if they are sick.

"Every traveler is requested to be honest, namely by not traveling if he is sick," he said.

Wiku also asks the public to be disciplined in complying with the rules set by transportation service providers.

The government, according to him, will continue to make policy adjustments to travel rules in accordance with the development of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.
