LAMPUNG - The Lampung Provincial Government has prohibited public officials in the local area from holding iftar together to maintain the downward trend of COVID-19 during the month of Ramadan.

"According to the regulations from the central government, it is forbidden for public officials to hold joint iftar," said Assistant I for Administration and Welfare of the Lampung Provincial Government, Qodratul Ikhwan, in Bandarlampung, Antara, Tuesday, April 5.

He said this was implemented to maintain the trend of decreasing COVID-19 cases in Lampung during the Ramadan period.

"There are already rules about this so they must be obeyed apart from being prohibited from breaking the fast together, it is also forbidden to hold open houses. Because this public official is an example for the community," he said.

According to him, the Lampung Provincial Government has also abolished Safari Ramadan as a form of support for this policy.

"Ramadan safaris have been canceled because there is a risk of the spread of COVID-19. Then the implementation of Nuzulul Quran will be carried out online so that everything is safe. Everything has been regulated through the Lampung Governor's Circular," he added.

He explained, with the appeal and regulations, it is hoped that public officials can implement them properly.

"We certainly want Lebaran to be more conducive than the previous year, so cooperation is needed to maintain the decline in COVID-19 cases," he said again.

It is known that the various rules during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period have been regulated, one of which is in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion number 08 of 2022 regarding Guidelines for Ramadan 1443 Hijri Worship.

Meanwhile, the trend of COVID-19 cases in Lampung is currently experiencing a decline, where in the past week the addition of daily cases was below 100 cases, with a total number of additional positive confirmed cases in a week there were 326 cases.

Meanwhile, only 8 people died in a week, and cumulatively recovered cases amounted to 67,464 people.
