JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPR Commission Ahmad Doli Kurnia views the importance of the digital system in the 2024 Simultaneous General Election stage. According to him, digitalization in a democratic party makes its implementation simple and easy.

"In principle, we want the next election to be easier for all of us, including voters. One of the methods used is the use of technology systems, so the idea of using digitalization arises," said Doli at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, April 4.

He assessed that in the digitalization of elections or e-election, there are things that must be considered, including electronic recapitulation (e-recap) and electronic voting (e-voting).

According to him, the use of the e-voting system must be done carefully because the system is no longer used in a number of countries because it is prone to manipulation by hackers.

"I am skeptical about e-voting, because maybe there is another system for safe, more accountable voting to produce people's votes as the final result of the election," he said, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, regarding the use of e-recap, he continued, the system had already been implemented during the 2020 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), but it still needed to be evaluated to find out its shortcomings.

He emphasized that Commission II of the DPR is preparing to face the 2024 Simultaneous Elections based on the applicable laws and regulations, namely Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.

According to him, Commission II of the DPR has spoken with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) that it carries out its duties according to the duties, principals, and functions (tupoksi) that have been regulated by the legislation.
