Red Plate Bank Employees Play Binomo Using Customer Savings Money, Lose IDR 1.1 Billion

BANJARMASIN - The actions of a state-owned bank employee in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, named Arini Listiani cost the state IDR 1.1 billion based on the results of an internal audit after he played the Binomo application.

In the facts of the trial that was held at the Banjarmasin Corruption Court, the woman who sat as the defendant admitted to playing Binomo since 2019 using a customer's savings account as collateral for a loan which she used again for transactions on the Binomo application.

In fact, the savings account that was used as collateral illegally without the knowledge of his boss had been opened and disbursed to fill his Binomo account balance.

"I was able to sell the assets of the house to compensate for some of the losses it caused, until the remaining approximately IDR 900 million", said Arini when giving testimony in a trial with the Chair of the Panel of Judges, Yusriansyah, as reported by Antara, Monday, April 4.

Arini also admitted that he had no assets to compensate for the remaining banking losses and was ready to accept the consequences of punishment. After examining the defendant's statement, the panel of judges again postponed the trial to continue with the agenda for reading the demands by the Public Prosecutor.

The prosecutor, Adi Suparna, asked for two weeks to prepare the charges until the next trial was held on Monday.

In this case, Arini was charged with several alternative charges. For the primary indictment, namely Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31/1999 concerning the Crime of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20/2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31/1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) Criminal Code.

It is known that the Binomo application emerged when Indra Kesuma, also known as Indra Kenz, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police and became a suspect in investment-based fraud.

As an influencer, he made his fortune from being an affiliate of one of the online gambling platforms that harm the Indonesian people, namely Binary Option Binomo.
