JAKARTA - Member of the Working Committee (Panja) of the Draft Sexual Violence Law (RUU TPKS) Christina Aryani said that she was optimistic that the Panja and the Government would complete discussions on the TPKS Bill next week.

"I am optimistic that next week it can be completed. Next Monday, several other types of criminal acts will be discussed," said Christina as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

He said that Monday's discussion will include the formulation of Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO), regarding abortion regulations, and also about rape. The Panja will discuss these issues together with the Government.

After passing the discussion stage, the TPKS Bill will go through an editorial process in the Formulating Team and Synchronization Team, before being brought to the Legislation Board Plenary (Plenary Baleg) for approval.

Furthermore, he explained that the discussion of the TPKS Bill for a week had been dynamic and positive. Both members of the Panja and the Government, he said, provided constructive input and had the same enthusiasm to finalize the TPKS Bill.

“I am grateful that the Government and DPR have the same spirit. One week of intensive discussion is the time that I consider reasonable, we are careful in formulating the articles to ensure that what is regulated can be implemented effectively and does not have multiple interpretations," said the politician from the Golkar Party faction.

Christina explained that the TPKS Bill has undergone refinement in the discussion, and carefully regulates the types of crimes of sexual violence and the threat of punishment.

The TPKS Bill also discusses the procedural law of sexual violence.

"This bill is in favor of victims, victims' rights are comprehensively regulated up to the stages of prevention, coordination, and monitoring, as well as who will play a role in it," said Christina.
