DKI Disdik Ask Parents To Monitor Children So They Don't Gather "Ngabuburit"

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Education Office (Disdik) has asked parents to participate in monitoring their children after school, especially in the afternoon classes so that they do not gather/crowd to wait for iftar time (ngabuburit).

"For parents to monitor their sons and daughters. Do not leave school at 10 (in the morning) until it is already sunset at home," said Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the DKI Jakarta Education Agency, Taga Radja Gah, when contacted in Jakarta, Sunday, quoted by Antara.

He expects parents to make sure their children go home after school PTM 100 percent either for morning or evening classes.

The DKI Education Office previously issued regulations regarding working hours for Civil Servants (PNS) and Non-PNS including teachers, especially for state education units with working hours in the afternoon/evening.

For afternoon/evening working hours, Monday-Thursday working hours start at 09.00-16.00 WIB and break time is 12.00-12.30 WIB.

For Friday from 09.00 to 16.00 WIB with a break time of 11.45-12.30 WIB.

He asked the teachers to also implement health protocols and maintain good sanitation.

DKI Jakarta re-implemented Face-to-face Learning (PTM) with 100 percent capacity, which in the previous year during the pandemic, added Taga, there was no PTM policy.

"What is really worrying is that the general public and schools will spend more time hanging out and gathering," he said.

Limited PTMs with 100 percent capacity will be implemented in Jakarta, he said, in line with the controlled cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have agreed with the existing regulations, PTM from PAUD, SD, to SMK, have implemented it thoroughly," added Taga.

However, the limited PTM with a capacity of 100 percent is limited to only six hours of lessons.

He explained that the re-imposition of 100 percent PTM in Jakarta was in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbud Ristek) Number 3 of 2022.

In the circular, PTM is limited to following the provisions of the Joint Decree (SKB) of four ministers, namely the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Home Affairs.

In the circular, parents or guardians of students are given the option to allow their children to take part in limited PTM or distance learning.

Taga said that in addition to the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta starting to be controlled, several indicators also support 100 percent PTM in DKI.

The indicators include the readiness of facilities and infrastructure in schools that are ready, such as the provision of sanitation facilities.
