TANJUNGPINANG - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) has prepared 58 thousand doses of vaccines to pursue the booster dose vaccination target.

Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad asked all regencies/cities to prepare themselves both in terms of health workers, vaccination staff and administrative staff, as well as the readiness of other vaccination centers including security and order so that booster vaccinations can run smoothly.

"The goal is that booster vaccinations can be carried out optimally, in order to achieve the targets that we have previously set," said Governor Ansar in Tanjungpinang as reported by Antara, Saturday, April 2.

Ansar said that as many as 58,000 doses of the vaccine were only distributed by the Ministry of Health to the Riau Islands on Thursday (31/3). The vaccine is indeed prioritized to meet the need for booster vaccinations in seven regencies/cities throughout the Riau Islands.

The governor also asked the district and city governments to continue to cooperate with the TNI/Polri in the context of securing and controlling crowds at vaccination centers.

"Although this booster vaccination continues to be rushed, health protocols must still be implemented. We don't want there to be crowded queues at the vaccination center, as well as crowds that actually cause the spread of COVID-19," said Ansar.

Ansar also guaranteed the availability of vaccine stock in Riau Islands to accelerate booster vaccination. Even though the vaccine stock has just arrived as many as 58 thousand doses, his party still asks for the availability of vaccine stocks to the Ministry of Mental Health at any time when the stock in the regions is running low.

"We still ask the Ministry of Health to be ready to send vaccine stocks, if the availability in Riau Islands is running low. Our achievements in vaccination are indeed appreciated by the central government, so I guarantee it," he said.

Based on data from the Riau Islands Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force until April 1, 2022, the achievement of booster vaccination has reached 413,613 people or 30.2 percent of the target of around 1.3 million people.

Meanwhile, the achievement of the first dose of vaccination was 1,744,053 people or 96.75 percent, and the second dose was 1,481,551 people or 82.18 percent.
