MEDAN - Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution handed over a number of aids for MSME actors, especially the seafood processing business cluster for fishermen's wives in Bagan Deli Village, Medan Belawan.

"We are providing this assistance for BRI's cooperation, which is a form of the Medan City Government's commitment to improving the economy, especially for the fishing community," said Bobby Nasution in Medan as reported by Antara, Friday, April 1.

The handover of the marine product processing business cluster, he continued, in the form of equipment worth Rp. 125 million, and assistance with 100 educational packages in the form of school equipment for fishermen's children.

Bobby Nasution also provided a certificate for accompanying MSMEs, handed over the Kusuka card and symbolically handed it over to the recipients of the People's Business Credit (KUR).

The latest data from the Medan City Cooperatives and MSMEs Service states that the number of MSMEs fostered by the Medan City Government is around 27,000 units out of a total of 70,000 recorded units.

"Developing local MSMEs, the Medan City Government cooperates with stakeholders because it is a shared responsibility. The development and improvement of MSMEs is one of the campaign promises that must be realized," said Bobby Nasution.

The mayor of Medan also said that his party had been present for the second time in Bagan Deli Village to help fishermen's wives to encourage a business, and have an impact on improving the family's economy.

"The focus of the Medan City Government is to help women in their business, and we encourage fishermen's wives to open businesses. Alhamdulillah, today it has been realized, we are helping mothers here to develop their businesses," explained Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, Nilawati (35), a recipient of MSME assistance in the Bagan Deli Village, said she was grateful that her business and the local fisherman's wife had received attention from the Medan City Government.

So far, SMEs in the region have been far from the government's attention. For this reason, Nila, who is familiarly called, said she was happy because they got the help they needed to run their business.

"We received assistance according to what we needed. The guardian really heard what we said and complained. Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful," he said.
