SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi Police have succeeded in uncovering a case of misappropriation of subsidized diesel fuel (BBM) and arresting four suspects in the southern area of Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"There are four suspects with the initials TF, Y, HJD and J who we arrested in the alleged misappropriation of subsidized fuel, one of them, namely TF, is known to be an officer at a public fuel filling station (SPBU) in Purabaya District, Sukabumi Regency," said the Police Chief. Sukabumi AKBP Dedy Darmawansyah quoted by Antara, Friday, April 1

According to the information gathered by the police, the arrest of these four suspects began with a community report which was later developed and succeeded in capturing HJD along with evidence of 340 liters of diesel fuel which was stored in a jerry can and was about to be transported using a pickup.

Then proceed with the arrests of suspects J and Y with evidence of 420 liters of diesel fuel that was put into 12 jerry cans. From the development results, the police arrested another suspect, namely TF, who is a gas station officer in Purabaya District.

The modus operandi of the suspects is buying subsidized fuel by abusing the recommendation letter from the Agriculture UPTD, such as suspects TF, Y and J having three letters of recommendation from the Agriculture UPTD for Jampang Tengah region, while suspect HJD has four recommendation letters from UPTD Agriculture Region VII Sagaranten.

Armed with the recommendation letter, the suspects purchased subsidized diesel fuel at several gas stations in the southern region of Sukabumi Regency, such as Purabaya and Jampantengah gas stations.

The price of diesel fuel that the suspects bought from gas stations was Rp. 5,000 per liter, then resold to retailers at a price of Rp. 6,000 per liter. Actually, the recommendation letter was used to purchase subsidized fuel for agricultural purposes, but by the suspects it was misused.

As the suspect, HJD, the owner of four letters of recommendation from the UPTD Agriculture, is not a farmer and it was revealed that his actions had been carried out for 25 years in the fuel trading business.

"We are still developing and exploring the agency's linkages in this case because they use the recommendation letter mode from the agricultural UPTD," he added.

Dedy said the suspects were charged with Articles 53 to 58 of the Indonesian Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, and threatened with a maximum imprisonment of six years and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion.
