CIREBON - The Cirebon City Government, West Java, continues to make efforts to accelerate the booster COVID-19 vaccination because so far it has only reached 18 percent of the target.

"Vaccination centers carried out by the TNI, Polri and at puskesmas are also continuously carried out, in order to accelerate the achievement of booster vaccinations," said Cirebon City Regional Secretary Agus Mulyadi as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 31.

Agus said that currently the booster COVID-19 vaccination has only reached 49,747 people or 18.97 percent of the total target of 262,198 people.

According to him, currently the public's enthusiasm for COVID-19 vaccination, especially boosters, is starting to decrease, unlike the first and second doses.

In addition, Agus continued, the sloping down of positive cases and the spread of COVID-19 were also factors in the decline in public enthusiasm.

In fact, said Agus, the booster vaccination was carried out six months after the second dose of vaccine was administered to strengthen immunity.

"After six months the immune system begins to weaken, so it needs to be strengthened again," he said.

Agus said that in order to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination, acceleration was needed again in order to achieve the 100 percent target.

For that, said Agus, the Cirebon City Government asked the sub-district head to conduct a deployment and a kind of vaccination center in collaboration with the local health center.

"Our first dose of vaccination has reached 100 percent a long time ago, while our second dose was recorded at almost 98 percent," he said.
