Claims Of Citizens' Requests, This DPR Member Urges The Government To Prepare Halal Vaccines

JAKARTA - DPR member Nur Nadlifah said the public asked the government to prepare a halal vaccine for a booster vaccine.

"Observing public demand for halal vaccines, I think the Ministry of Health should immediately provide halal vaccines, especially when this year's condition for going home is mandatory for all people," said Nadlifah in a meeting with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, March 31. quoted from Antara.

The member of the Commission IX Vaccine Supervision Working Committee (Panja) of the House of Representatives also questioned the reason why the Ministry of Health did not include a vaccine that had been given a Halal fatwa by the MUI as a booster vaccine provided by the government.

"Why not include halal vaccines as an option. What is the moral responsibility given by the government," Nadlifah asked.

The member of the PKB faction was surprised that there was a vaccine that was clear, both clinically and legally, but not included in the list of booster vaccines. He questioned the moral responsibility of the government, where a Muslim-majority country does not get the right.

"According to research, Zifivax vaccine is good, why is it not included in the list. Meanwhile, the vaccine that has just been released is included in the list. In the past, we were betting our lives to fight over the vaccine. Now the situation is different," explained Nadlifah.

Meanwhile, another Panja member, Saleh Daulay, asked the Ministry of Health to immediately provide a COVID-19 vaccine that has been declared halal by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

"Halal vaccine is the right of citizens, and the state is obliged to protect it," he said.

Responding to the insistence on halal vaccines, Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Lucia Rizka Andalusia said that his party had coordinated with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding the halalness of the pfizer vaccine.

"Regarding the halal vaccine, according to the direction of the RDP, there is news that the booster vaccine has been obtained halal in the UAE, today we have coordinated with the UAE to ask about the halal status of the vaccine," he emphasized.
