PADANG - The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Regional Police of West Sumatra arrested two honorary staff from the Environmental Service (DLH) of the City of Padang, West Sumatra, who were suspected of stealing cows.

Head of the West Sumatra Regional Police's General Crime Investigation Directorate, AKBP Jefri Indra Jaya, said the two men stole cows using a garbage truck belonging to the Padang City Government.

The two men suspected of being involved in the male cattle theft case had the initials RY (28) and ERP (33).

Meanwhile, another suspect is still wanted by the police.

The perpetrators carried out the theft at the Air Cold landfill, Koto Tangah District, Padang City about one week ago.

The perpetrator stole the cow by giving the cow poison.

After being poisoned, the cow's body was split into two parts, wrapped in a sack and put in a garbage truck to be transported to the point of sale.

AKBP Jefri said the cuts were planned to be sold directly to the public but officers quickly arrested both of them.

Furthermore, there were two separate pieces of the cow's body and Rp2 million in cash.

"The two perpetrators are currently being held at the West Sumatra Police Headquarters and processed according to the rules," he said.

The West Sumatra Regional Police appealed to farmers to be careful and monitor their livestock so they don't get lost or stolen.

"We invite the community to actively minimize the occurrence of this livestock theft," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Environmental Service (DLH) of the City of Padang Mairizon admitted that the two perpetrators were honorary workers at the agency he led.

"Both are in the process of being fired," he said.

According to him, one of the perpetrators was a garbage truck driver. The driver who was previously arrested had hit a person causing one of the residents to die due to carrying a reckless garbage car.

Mairizon said that at that time he had only been serving as the Head of DLH Padang for three months and the victim's family asked for Rp13 million in peace money which was paid by DLH Padang.

After that, the perpetrator was allowed to bring the garbage truck recklessly and his party gave him a sanction by pulling the garbage truck from him for two months.

"Now that's what he's doing. We will fire both of them," he said.
