BUNTOK - The hemodialysis visitation team of the Indonesian Nephrology Association (Pernefri) for the East Java and Kalimantan regions assessed that hemodialysis services at the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital, South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan were optimal.

"Based on the results of Pernefri's monitoring, the services provided by the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital to patients have gone well," said the Director of the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital, Dr. Norman Wahyu in Buntok, Antara, Tuesday, March 29.

Norman thanked Dr. Widodo as the hemodialysis supervisor for East Java and Kalimantan for visiting. "This visit is a routine visit every year to monitor hemodialysis activities in a number of areas, including the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital," he said.

This is done in an effort to improve and maintain the quality of service for patients who require hemodialysis or dialysis can run according to predetermined rules.

"The number of patients undergoing dialysis at the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital is 27 people and on average each hemodialysis patient performs dialysis twice a week," Dr. Norman Wahyu.

Supervisor of the Pernefri Hemodialysis Visitation Team, dr Widodo assessed that the equipment used by the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital in providing dialysis services to patients was adequate.

Widodo said that this sub-specialist service with high technology does need regular assistance, because the service provided to each dialysis patient is two to three times a week.

"Therefore, we provide consultation and direction, both in medical, licensing and other activities. We also always carry out monitoring and there are always improvements that we make. Based on this evaluation, the service has been very optimal," said dr. Widodo.

Regarding the high number of patients with kidney disorders, Widodo said that the most common causes of kidney disease in Indonesia are hypertension and diabetes mellitus.

For this reason, people who have diabetes and hypertension must seek treatment regularly to control blood sugar for those with diabetes and blood pressure for those with hypertension.

"Treat regularly so that blood pressure is controlled and blood sugar can also be controlled, so that impaired kidney function can be prevented," he explained.
