CIREBON - The Department of Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries (DKPPP) of Cirebon City checked several food samples ahead of Ramadan 2022. The results stated that food stocks in people's and modern markets in the local area were safe from hazardous materials.

"After we tested the food samples, they were all safe for consumption," said Cirebon City DKPPP Head Yati Rohayati in Cirebon, Monday, March 28.

Yati said that the inspection carried out this time was to ensure that all food ingredients in Cirebon City were safe, especially since the month of Ramadan is approaching.

According to him, there are several foodstuffs that are examined, namely foodstuffs of animal origin, such as beef, chicken, and fish. Then vegetables and fruit.

"We take samples from all of these food ingredients, then they are tested using the rapid test method by food officers to find out whether there are harmful ingredients or not," he said, as reported by Antara.

He continued that three types of content were examined, first, formalin and pondus hydrogenii (pH) tests for beef, chicken, fresh and dried fish.

The fresh fish examined included tilapia, mujair, sepat, mackerel, squid, milkfish to shrimp. If the dried fish is for example salted fish. The sample taken is the most frequently consumed by the public.

The second examination, continued Yati, examined the pesticide content in vegetables and fruit. For vegetables, the samples taken were pakcoy, onions and chicory. As for fruit, there are apples, oranges, and pears.

"We also take samples of kolang-kaling to check the chlorine content. We take samples of kolang-kaling because it is often consumed during Ramadan," he added.
