BANDUNG - The Bandung District Court (PN) is coordinating with the police and the prosecutor's office to ensure the safety of the trial with the accused preacher Bahar Smith. Bahar Smith's trial will be held Tuesday, March 29 at the Bandung District Court, West Java.

Public Relations of the Bandung District Court, Dalyursa, said that Bahar Smith was planned to take part in the trial online. Meanwhile, Bahar is a defendant in the case of spreading false news or hoaxes.

"The trial is at the Bandung District Court, our side and the prosecutor's office have coordinated with the police," said Dalyursa in Bandung, Antara, Monday, March 28.

Bahar Smith had previously been a defendant in the Bandung District Court on two different cases. Starting from the case of mistreatment of students which was tried in 2019, to the case of mistreatment of taxi drivers which was tried in 2021.

Every Bahar trial, mass supporters often attend. Therefore, Dalyursa said it needed to be anticipated to ensure order.

"Later it may be limited, because this is a problem that will explode (the masses), this is the first trial," he also said.

In this case, Bahar is suspected of violating Article 14 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) and Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulation and/or Article 28 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11/2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) number 1E of the Criminal Code.

Bahar Smith was previously named a suspect in a hoax case in early January after Bahar was questioned at the West Java Regional Police for about nine hours.
