Deputy Governor Of DKI: Like MotoGP, Formula E Can't Immediately Profit In The First Year

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that the benefits of organizing Formula E on June 4, 2022 will not cover the expenses in the first year of the competition.

Riza said that this condition also occurred in the implementation of MotoGP in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"Indeed, activities such as Formula E or Mandalika and other events are not possible in the first year to be immediately profitable. He needs time," Riza told reporters, Monday, March 28.

Therefore, in the implementation of Formula E, the DKI Provincial Government plans this electric car racing event to be held for three seasons, from 2022 to 2024.

Moreover, Riza continued, Jakarta and Indonesia will get a positive impact from this international race, namely showing their faces in the eyes of the world because Formula E is broadcast in various countries.

"There is a calculation, there will be a continuation of positive cash flow going forward. But, another advantage is that Indonesia is trusted, successful, and successful. That is an extraordinary value that cannot be measured by the value of the rupiah," he explained.

Furthermore, Riza also explained the reason for reducing the number of spectator seats prepared for the Formula E event. Previously, it was revealed that this electric car racing event could accommodate 50 thousand spectators. Now, the organizers have prepared at least 10 thousand spectator seats.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, revealed two reasons why the Formula E audience seats were reduced. According to him, the problem of the pandemic and the limited area in the Ancol area were factors in reducing the number of seats.

"It has to be adjusted. It's still a pandemic issue, maybe. Second, is the place possible. So, it must be adjusted to the existing place," said Riza.

Riza admitted that when the number of spectator seats provided was reduced, automatically the income from the Formula E event through ticket sales also decreased.

Therefore, continued Riza, Jakpro will re-adjust the revenue potential by getting more profit from Formula E sponsors.

"If ticket payments are reduced, so, where are the other opportunities? Maybe from sponsors. The committee must of course count the positives and negatives. I think they have been calculated. All decisions made by the committee, I think it's the best possible," said Riza .
