BANDA ACEH - The Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Banda Aceh City, Aceh Province, invites students to understand elections in order to strengthen the democratic order so that quality general elections are realized.

"By understanding democracy, it creates democratic resilience so as to produce quality and integrity elections," said Head of Independent Election Commission of Banda Aceh City, Indra Milwady in Banda Aceh, Sunday, March 27.

Indra Milwady conveyed the invitation when giving a lecture with the theme "Democracy and Elections" to students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh.

He said the understanding of democracy and elections includes the design of the electoral system, both legislative elections, presidential elections, regional head elections, and structuring electoral districts.

Understanding democracy and elections, he said, could prevent the development of hoaxes or false information among students and other young generations.

"Understanding democracy and elections are very important for students and other young generations because it will strengthen the democratic order which will later involve them," he said as quoted by Antara.

He said the public lecture was part of the general election socialization to students. Moreover, the future elections to be held in 2024 include legislative elections, presidential elections, and regional head elections.

"In addition, we hope that this socialization and public lecture will increase the participation of students and other young people to join the democratic party," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Law and Supervision Division of Banda Aceh City Independent Election Commission, Muhammad A.H, said students must understand the knowledge of election law. By understanding the election rules, students can monitor and oversee the democratic party.

"We invite students to take an active role in guarding every election process. Moreover, students are the nation's successors who must be able to understand the nation's democracy," he explained.
