JAKARTA - The Extraordinary General Meeting of Members (RUA LB) elected Silmy Karim as the new Chair of the Trisakti Alumni Association (IKA Trisakti) at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday, March 27.

The Supervisory Board of Feri Wirsamulia explained that RUA LB IKA Trisakti chose a new leader because the previous chairman, Azis Syamsuddin, had resigned. Thus, the new chairman will continue the leadership for the 2021-2025 period.

"The election of the Chair of the Trisakti IKA is because Mr. Azis Syamsuddin resigned. So the new chairman will continue his term of office until 2025," said Feri to reporters, Sunday, March 27. "Hopefully we choose a chairman who is trustworthy, a chairman who leads with heart because we alumni are a brotherly bond," he continued.

The elected chairman of IKA Trisakti, Silmy Karim hopes that his leadership in the future can make Trisakti alumni strengthen each other for the benefit of alumni, campus, and the nation and state.

"Our hope is that Trisakti alumni throughout Indonesia can join, can contribute, can strengthen each other for the progress of Indonesia, the progress of the Trisakti campus as well," he said.

Silmy who currently serves as the President Director of PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk emphasized that as a reform campus, Trisakti must continue to move to fight for the interests of the nation and state. He stated his intention to assist the government in overcoming people's economic problems, especially those affected by the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"Actually, in this pandemic, the government has played a very good role in the context of policies, actions, and the government's response has been very good. We are of course only in the capacity to help support what the government has done, it can get better," he said.

"Then, what might be a challenge is post-pandemic, which is endemic. We know that after the pandemic we know there will be things that will certainly be our attention, such as the incident in Russia, this will have an impact on matters related to the economy," he continued.

Silmy also invited all Trisakti alumni to unite to help the government work in maintaining the nation's economic stability.

"To a lesser extent, of course, with the more united Trisakti alumni throughout Indonesia, we can work hand in hand. Contribute so that after the pandemic we can strengthen each other, contribute to the nation and state," he said.
