MEDAN - Having a young spirit and caring about sports has encouraged Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution to immediately renovate the Medan Exemplary Stadium.

In addition to the condition which is considered inadequate, the renovations were carried out so that the City of Medan has a proud international standard stadium as well as sports facilities that are able to answer the needs of the athletes so far.

Renovation plans have already begun to be explored. Bobby Nasution directly chaired the Exemplary Stadium Design Expose meeting. In fact, Bobby Nasution wants the stadium which is the home base for PSMS Medan and the pride of the citizens of Medan City to be of international standard so that it is recognized by the World Football Federation (FIFA).

“Renovation of the Exemplary Stadium must refer to standards that are recognized by the world, whether it is related to the grass, field area, audience capacity and others. At a minimum, if the AFF Cup is held in Indonesia, the Exemplary Stadium can be used as a place to compete," said Bobby Nasution while asking the consultants that the renovations would also be of AFC and FIFA standards, reported by the Medan City Government, Friday, March 25.

As a form of seriousness in renovating the Teladan Stadium, President Joko Widodo's son-in-law met the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali in Jakarta some time ago. During the meeting, the husband of the chairman of the Medan City PKK TP, Kahiyang Ayu, expressed his wish for the Exemplary Stadium to be built to international standards.

“Of course there are some parts that will be renovated, such as the capacity of the audience. We also plan to renovate the Kebun Bunga Stadium so that sports facilities in Medan City are available properly and properly. We ask for your support, hopefully this can be done, "said Bobby Nasution.

Menpora Zainudin Amali also welcomed Bobby Nasution's plan.

"Later, we will try to give recommendations for further submission to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). Because the infrastructure is working there (the Ministry of PUPR)," continued Amali.

Regarding Bobby Nasution's plan and commitment to renovate the Exemplary Stadium to international standards, former PSMS Medan player Saktiawan Sinaga gave his full appreciation and support. Saktiawan admitted that he was very happy, enthusiastic and respectful of Bobby Nasution's concern.

“For me in particular, as a former PSMS player, that is what is expected. Because, it's a shame for a big city like Medan, but it doesn't have a capable stadium and its current condition is categorized as severe. Of course, with the Mayor's (renovation) plan, I really appreciate it," said Saktiawan.

He is also optimistic that if the Teladan Stadium is built to international standards, it will be a source of pride for North Sumatra, especially the city of Medan.

“Moreover, from the available information, the Flower Garden Stadium will also be improved. Wow, that's great to hear. We support it, hopefully it will be realized as soon as possible," said the former Indonesian national team player.
