JAKARTA - The Technical Implementation Unit of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (UPT BP2MI) West Nusa Tenggara returned four women who were almost brought to Saudi Arabia to be used as ART outside the procedure.

Head of UPT BP2MI NTB Abri Danar Prabawa, in Mataram, explained that the four prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) were secured by UPT BP2MI DKI Jakarta Province in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta. They were then returned to NTB, after being recorded and questioned.

In facilitating the repatriation of the four CPMIs, UPT BP2MI NTB cooperated with the Manpower and Transmigration Office of Central Lombok Regency.

"After data collection and guidance were carried out, the CPMIs were sent back to their areas of origin, today they have arrived at their respective homes," said Abri, Monday, March 21, quoted from Antara.

UPT BP2MI NTB, he said, has facilitated the return of CPMI as a result of prevention since early 2022.

Until now, the number of non-procedural CPMI from NTB who have been repatriated is 134 people. Of this number, 18 CPMIs who aim to work in the Middle East, the rest go to Malaysia.

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 260 of 2015 concerning Termination and Prohibition of the Placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Individual Users in Middle Eastern Countries, the government imposed a moratorium policy on the placement of domestic workers to the Middle East.

"The moratorium policy is an effort by the government to protect PMI from violence that is often perpetrated by employers," he said.

According to him, working abroad in a non-procedural way is more at risk of becoming a victim of non-trafficking in persons (TPPO), which of course will endanger and harm PMI itself.

The community is advised not to leave non-procedurally, a program from the local government is needed so that people who enter productive age are given job training or skills improvement programs through job training centers.
