GARUT - The Garut Police Traffic Unit, West Java, has started checking signs, damaged roads, and public street lighting on each main route in preparation for the 2022 Eid homecoming, which is predicted to see a surge in vehicle traffic.

"The results of the review show that there are several points that need improvement," said Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit AKP Law Syarif Hidayat to reporters in Garut, reported by Antara, Friday, March 18.

He said a number of personnel from the Garut Police Traffic Unit and from the West Java Police Traffic Unit had checked on highways such as the Limbangan-Malangbong and Kadungora-Tarogong areas.

Road checks, he said, were part of preparations for security operations during the homecoming and return trips for Eid 2022.

He conveyed the results of checking the lanes in the area, there were still several roads that needed to be repaired for the convenience and safety of road users.

"The Jalan Salamanja area (Kadungora area) is now being repaired, the plan is for the 7th day before the fast is over," he said.

He revealed that a number of other roads needed to be repaired immediately, including Jalan Tutugan Leles in Leles Sub-district as the main Bandung-Garut road. Apart from road conditions that must be improved, he said, there needs to be installation of signs and public road lighting which is still minimal.

"We have discussed with PUPR and the local Dishub, including directions for repairs," he said.

He added that overall the Garut Police Satlantas personnel were ready to secure the route when going home and returning to Eid 2022.

"All personnel are ready, even so we are trying to maintain the stamina of the members because later all members will continue to guard the field," he said.
