MAKI Reports Alleged CPO Export Deviations To The AGO

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) has reported allegations of irregularities in the export of crude palm oil (CPO) or crude palm oil from the Attorney General's Office (AGO). This deviation is suspected to be one of the causes of the scarcity of cooking oil.

"Allegations of smuggling abroad (illegal export) of cooking oil," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in his statement, Thursday, March 17.

In reporting, Boyamin mentioned the mode used by circumventing export documents. The mode is to disguise it with vegetables.

"In the export document it is suspected that it is written as vegetables as a method to trick the Customs and Excise officials because the exporter does not have a cooking oil export quota," he said.

Boyamin also said that based on the data available, the alleged export irregularities were carried out through the Tanjung Priok port. In fact, involving unscrupulous officials.

"A total of 23 containers have been shipped overseas and only 1 container remains at the Tanjung Priok port," said Boyamin.

Separately, the Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Supardi said his party would follow up on the complaint. A team will be formed to investigate this report.

"What is clear is that we are paying attention, we are also investigating," said Supardi.
