Due To An Electric Short Circuit, The Petamburan Flat Caught Fire

JAKARTA - Plumes of black smoke were seen in the Petamburan sub-district, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 17, at dawn. The fire began to grow and spread to several parts.

Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-Department (Kasudin) Asril Rizal said the fire originated from an electrical panel on the 2nd floor, Petamburan Flats, Jalan Administration II, RT 05/11, Petamburan Village, Sub-district Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

His party received a report of a fire at around 04.13 WIB. Then at 04.20, the Gulkarmat Sub-dept. began carrying out fire suppression operations by deploying 10 units of cars with 40 personnel to the location.

"Alhamdulillah, the fire was successfully localized at 04.35 WIB and the extinguishing operation was completed at 05.32 WIB. It is suspected that the cause of the fire was an electric short circuit," he said.

After identification by firefighters, the object that caught fire was 30 square meters. Losses are estimated at Rp 45 million.

"Initially, residents saw that there was smoke from the electrical panel on the 2nd floor, which continued to grow. There were also a lot of flammable items there, but the officers managed to extinguish it quickly so it didn't spread to other buildings," he said.
