JAKARTA - This morning, at around 08.00 WIB, Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri visited the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board building. He meets KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) who is also his old friend.

"This is a meeting with an old friend who I have known since he became the NTB Police Chief," said Gus Yahya, after meeting Firli at the PBNU Office on Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 15, as quoted from the official NU Online website.

For almost two hours, Firli and Gus Yahya had a discussion. For information, this is not an official visit but rather a visit from friends who have not seen each other for a long time. Firli herself came only accompanied by a few staff.

The meeting was held in the PBNU General Chair's room on the second floor with a relaxed concept. Various things were also discussed between Firli and Gus Yahya.

"In this meeting, we had a heart-to-heart talk about various issues, between two old friends, concerning all issues, especially the phenomenon of corruption that is happening today," said Gus Yahya.

Even though the meeting was casual, Gus Yahya officially stated the PBNU's desire to cooperate with the KPK to provide anti-corruption training to PBNU ranks up to the PCNU level or the district/city level.

“NU needs the KPK because there are many cooperation agendas with the government whose executions are carried out by branches. So they (branches) must know the correct parameters so that the program implementation is carried out cleanly," said Gus Yahya.

On this occasion, Gus Yahya also offered cooperation between PBNU and the KPK on a broader anti-corruption campaign and building an understanding between NU and the KPK.

"Because NU has an interest in the entire NU ecosystem being completely clean of corruption. Everything, any institution, Banom or entity related to NU must be free from corruption. So that NU can play a role in building an anti-corruption culture," said Gus Yahya.
