NTT - The Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) held a traditional procession of handing over land and water from various regions in the archipelago-based province to welcome the National Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

The process of handing over land and water was carried out by seven regional heads representing seven islands in NTT to the Governor of NTT Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in Kupang, Friday, March 11.

The seven regents who handed over land and water represented a number of islands in NTT, namely Regent Belu dr.Taolin Agustinus representing Timor Island, Regent of Sabu Raijua, Nicodemus Nithanael Rihi Heke representing the area of Sabu Raijua Island.

In addition, the Regent of Lembata, Thomas O. Langodai, together with the traditional leader of the Lembata community in Kupang, Abdi Keraf, represented Lembata Island.

While representing Flores Island, the Regent of East Flores, Antonius Hubertus Gege Hadjon and local traditional leaders, and from Alor Island were represented by the Regent of Alor, Amon Jobo.

The handover of land and water by the Regents and community leaders in NTT began with traditional rituals from each region.

The Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, said that the water and land would be transferred to the candidate for the capital of the Indonesian archipelago in East Kalimantan on March 13, 2022.

"On March 13, we will bring this land and water to East Kalimantan to be combined with land and water from various other provinces on March 14 in the presence of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat accompanied by the Deputy Governor of NTT, Josef A. Nae Soi was reported by Antara.

According to Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, Indonesia will have a new capital called Nusantara with a very strategic location. He hopes that land and water from the NTT Province can participate in speeding up the development of the nation's capital city.

"The land and water from the Flobamora area can create social justice for all Indonesian people," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat.

According to Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, the land and water that were handed over by the seven representatives from a number of islands in this archipelago-based province were not entirely brought to East Kalimantan but some will be kept in museums as historical evidence that NTT has supported the development of the Nusantara IKN in East Kalimantan.

"Not all land and water will be taken away, the rest will be stored in a museum in NTT as historical evidence that the remaining land for Indonesia is still here," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat.
