MATARAM - The Trade Office of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province, said that 14 containers of subsidized packaged cooking oil at Rp. 14,000 per liter arrived in Mataram City on March 15-16, 2022 to meet the needs of the MotoGP event until the end of Ramadan.

"The 14 containers of cooking oil that will arrive belong to two distributors, namely the distributor of Sumber Daya Abadi in Ampenan and Sukses Jaya Mandiri in Selagalas," said Head of the Mataram City Trade Service (Disdag) Uun Pujianto as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 11.

According to him, after arriving in Mataram as many as 14 containers of packaged cooking oil were focused on meeting the needs of modern retail in Mataram City.

"The quota remains for the island of Lombok, but the priority is for Mataram City as a trade center and provincial capital in this area," he said.

The reason is, even though the MotoGP takes place in Mandalika, Central Lombok Regency, but Mataram as the capital city, consumers will definitely look to the city more.

"So we don't want a stock shortage here (Mataram). Therefore, we want distribution in modern retail to be even," he said.

Uun added, in addition to 14 containers of packaged cooking oil, 3,000 tons of bulk cooking oil will also come for consumer needs in traditional markets.

"The difference is that bulk cooking oil in traditional markets is sold per kilogram instead of per liter at the same price of Rp. 14,000 per kilogram," he said.

A total of 3,000 tons of bulk cooking oil, which will arrive on March 15-16, 2022, is predicted to meet the needs of the people of Mataram City for the next two months.

Uun said, with the availability of packaged cooking oil stocks, there is actually no shortage because if you are looking for cooking oil in the modern market or market, there will be only non-subsidized premium cooking oil at a price of Rp. 19,000-20,000 per liter.

"What is considered a lack of stock is subsidized cooking oil, the price is Rp. 14,000 per liter. In addition, after subsidized cooking oil, there are now many impromptu cooking oil trades, which affect household stocks," said Uun.
