BKSDA Evacuates 4 Meter Crocodile Predators In Mukomuko River

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) evacuated a crocodile suspected of being a human predator caught by a handler in the Selagan River, Mukomuko Regency.

"Today we are evacuating the crocodile to the BKSDA in Bengkulu," said Head of the Conservation Section I Region I of the Bengkulu BKSDA, Said Jauhari in Mukomuko, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 11.

A crocodile suspected to be a human predator about four meters long, was caught by a handler in the Selagan River, Tanah Rekah Village, Mukomuko Regency.

Meanwhile, the crocodile was evacuated at the Bengkulu BKSDA, while looking for a location that became the crocodile's habitat.

In addition, his party will conduct observations to ensure the condition of these crocodiles as well as the location of habitats that are suitable for crocodiles.

This year's BKSDA provides opportunities for people who want to open crocodile captivity in their area.

"This year we have a quota to open a crocodile captivity, and for local people who want to open a crocodile captivity, BKSDA has given permission," said Jauhari.

Mukomuko City Sub-district Head Ali Nasri said the crocodile, which is suspected to be a human predator, was caught by a handler in the Selagan River, Mukomuko Regency on Thursday (10/3) night at around 19.30 WIB.

He stated that the crocodile was not in the cage installed by the BKSDA, but the handler who got the crocodile.

For the time being, his party cannot guess whether the captured crocodile preyed on the residents of Tanah Rekah Village, Mukomuko City District to death.

Because according to the handler's information, he said, there were about 10 large crocodiles in the Selagan River and the plan was for all of the crocodiles to be caught by the handler.

Previously, Sabri (65), a resident of Tanah Rekah Village, Mukomuko City District, died after being eaten by crocodiles in the Selagan River in this area.
