JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has canceled an appeal against the decision of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) regarding the dredging of the Mampang River.

This has drawn scorn from the Deputy Chairman of the PSI faction of the DKI DPRD, Justin Adrian Untayana. Justin saw Anies as inconsistent and realized too late that the appeal was a mistake.

"Within two days, then withdraw the appeal that was submitted. It seems that the Governor is late in thinking or planning too late. Justin said when contacted, Friday, March 11.

Moreover, Justin said that the action against the residents of the Mampang River flood victims as plaintiffs in this case was ridiculous.

This is because the PTUN's decision to punish Anies to completely dredge the Mampang River and build sheet piles is indeed the DKI Provincial Government's obligation to deal with floods.

"What the residents demand is his performance, not assets, not material, so just do it! Imagine, citizens as taxpayers, including the governor's salary, but have to take legal action just for the governor to work for real," said Justin.

For information, the revocation of the appeal against the PTUN decision was carried out by the Legal Bureau of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretariat after receiving directions from Anies. This appeal was also withdrawn after receiving various criticisms from the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

The head of the DKI Legal Bureau, Yayan Yuhanah, revealed that Anies decided to withdraw the appeal because the panel of judges did not state that the DKI Provincial Government had committed an unlawful act.

Another consideration for revocation of the appeal was because the panel of judges also rejected 5 of the 7 demands of the plaintiffs in this case. The plaintiffs in this case are a number of flood victims in Mampang River.

"In this case, the panel of judges has considered that only 2 demands were deemed not optimal by the DKI Provincial Government in Mampang River, and actually the DKI Provincial Government has made efforts to overcome the flood problem in the Mampang River area," Yayan explained.
