Ex-Citilink President Director And Garuda Indonesia VP Of Corporate Communication Examined As Witnesses In Aircraft Procurement Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office is examining witnesses related to the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of PT Garuda Indonesia aircraft by questioning two former high-ranking airline officials.

The Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said that the two witnesses being examined were WAM as President Director of PT Citilink Indonesia for the period 2012-2014 and P as VP Corporate Communication of PT Garuda Indonesia 2009-2015.

"The two witnesses were examined regarding the procurement of PT Garuda Indonesia aircraft for the years 2011-2021," Sumedana said in a written statement, Wednesday, March 9.

The examination of witnesses was carried out to strengthen evidence and complete the filing in the case of alleged corruption in the procurement of aircraft for PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in 2011-2021.

The day before, Tuesday (8/3), investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) examined four high-ranking PT Garuda officials as witnesses. The three witnesses examined were PNH as the Production Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero), JAT as the Line Operation Director of PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia.

Then, RK as VP CEO Office of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) and SN as VP Airworthiness Management of PT Garuda Indonesia. The four witnesses were examined in relation to the procurement of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) aircraft in 2011-2021.

Regarding the investigation into the alleged corruption case of PT Garuda Indonesia, the Investigation Team of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) has received an assignment letter to calculate state losses in the case.

Until now, the BPKP Investigation Team and the Jampidsus Investigating Prosecutors Team have collaborated in determining the real state losses.

Previously, the Jampidsus Investigating Prosecutors Team had examined witnesses and collected documents to support the process of calculating state financial losses in this case.

The Attorney General's Office has also named two suspects in this case, namely SA or Setijo Awibowo who was the Vice President (VP) Strategic Management Office of PT Garuda Indonesia in 2011-2012 and AW or Agus Wahjudo who had held the position of Executive Project Manager of Aircraft Delivery at PT. Garuda Indonesia Year 2009-2014. Agus is a member of the CRJ 1000 Aircraft Procurement Team and a member of the ATR 72-600 Aircraft Procurement Team.
