Defense Minister Prabowo-Prince Khalid Discuss Defense Industry Cooperation

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with HRH Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 8, during a meeting with Prince Khalid as Deputy Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, the discussion on exploring the potential for defense industry cooperation and increasing educational cooperation.

The meeting also discussed efforts to increase military and defense cooperation as well as global and regional issues concerning the interests of the two countries.

Defense Minister Prabowo's meeting with Prince Khalid was part of a series of working visits by Defense Minister Prabowo to Saudi Arabia, which included attending The IISS Riyadh 2022 and the 2022 World Defense Show which were also held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Prince Khalid, where Defense Minister Prabowo also attended an invitation to breakfast with Prince Khalid Bin Salman who was accompanied by the Commander of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces.

During the meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo and Prince Khalid also enjoyed Saudi Arabian coffee while exchanging ideas about defense.

Defense cooperation between the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been well established so far.

This cooperation was confirmed by the "Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) Between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia", on January 23, 2014 in Jakarta and ratified in 2018.

In the field of education, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia have had an officer exchange cooperation program as an implementation of education and training cooperation.

Indonesia has sent 178 people to attend education in Saudi Arabia in the period 2014-2022, in the form of Sesko Forces and Enlightenment Courses for Countering extremism.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has sent two people to take part in Sesko TNI and Sesko Army. Requests related to the addition of Sesko seats in each Force will continue to be added.
