MEDAN - The Mandailing Natal Resort Police conducted an investigation into the case of dozens of residents who were poisoned by PT Sorik Marapi Geothermal Power's H2S gas in Banjar Manggis, Sibanggor Julu Village, Mandailing Natal (Madina) Regency, North Sumatra.

"A team has been formed to investigate the case of gas poisoning experienced by residents of Sibanggor Julu Village, Madina Regency," said the Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 7.

Hadi said that the report received was that 52 residents of Madina Regency were victims of inhaling the toxic gas, and had been treated at the hospital.

"A total of 36 residents have returned to their homes and their conditions are improving," he said.

Previously, dozens of residents of Sibanggor Julu Village, Puncak Sorik Merapi Subdistrict, Madina Regency, North Sumatra, had to be rushed to the hospital because they were suspected of inhaling Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) from the drilling well of PT Sorik Marapi Gheothermal Power at Wellvad AAE Banjar Manggis, Sunday (6 / 3) around 16.00 WIB.

According to the information obtained, about 58 residents were treated at two hospitals in Panyabungan, 36 were treated at the Panyabungan Hospital and 22 were treated at the Permata Madina Hospital.

The Regent of Mandailing Natal, HM Jafar Sukhairi Nasution, who immediately monitored the incident at the Panyabungan Hospital, asked for prayers and support from all levels of society so that this issue could be handled properly.

He asked if there are residents who experience worrying symptoms to immediately be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a resident of Sibanggor Julu Village, Raja Sibanggor, said that the current situation in Sibanggor Village, Puncak Sorik Merapi District, Mandina Regency has started to become conducive.
