Manpower Issues Become Priority Discussion At G20

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower conveyed the issue of an inclusive labor market as one of the G20 priority issues at the first meeting of the Employment Working Group (EWG).

The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said that in the first EWG meeting, two priority issues would be discussed.

First, inclusive labor market and affirmative decent jobs for persons with disabilities.

"We put forward the issue of an inclusive labor market and decent work for persons with disabilities, because this issue is urgent for us to tackle together, especially after we enter the COVID-19 pandemic", she said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday, March 7th.

The second issue, she continued, is about developing human capacity for sustainable productivity growth (human capacity development for sustainable growth of productivity).

"Through this second issue, we will encourage and formulate joint policies that involve the active participation of the wider community or community, in developing human resources through training, especially in rural economic areas", she said.

She explained that to be successful in discussing the two priority issues, the implementation of the first EWG meeting would consist of nine meeting sessions, all of which were held virtually.

In addition to involving G20 members, the EWG forum will also present several guest countries, the Engagement Group, as well as international institutions such as the ILO and OECD.

"We hope that with the participation of various countries and international institutions, we can support the issues brought up by Indonesia, and provide the greatest benefit to Indonesia and the world", she said.

Indonesia as the 2022 G20 Presidency, she said, will hold the EWG meeting on March 8-10 2022 online.

In the implementation of the G20 Forum in the field of employment, his party carried the main theme "Improving the Employment Condition to Recover Together".

"The main theme is then reduced to four priority issues that will be discussed in the EWG forum", she said.
