BOGOR - The Bogor Resort Police has assigned 185 personnel to oversee traffic engineering in the form of an odd-even system in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency, West Java, over the weekend.

"Starting today, we will monitor the Puncak Line area and regulate traffic. We have deployed 185 personnel at every point that has the potential to become a vehicle volume increase," said Bogor Police Chief AKBP Iman Imanuddin, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 4.

According to him, this odd-even policy applies on national holidays and regular weekends as stated in PM 84 of 2021 concerning Traffic Regulations on the Ciawi-Puncak National Road Section Number 074 and the Cianjur City Peak-Boundary National Road Section Number 075.

"Alternative routes that lead to the main routes are also guarded, apart from that we are also preparing a mobile patrol team to unravel congestion nodes," he said.

If traffic conditions along the Puncak Line continue to experience congestion, his party will apply a one-way traffic engineering system.

Iman said his party had anticipated traffic jams caused by vehicles breaking down like last week, by alerting three tow trucks at Simpang Gadog, Gunung Mas, and Taman Wisata Matahari.

"I also appeal to all people who will enter the Puncak Area to follow the rules we apply and be disciplined in implementing the health procedures," said Iman.

According to him, the Bogor Resort Police is also collaborating with the Bogor Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force to jointly conduct an examination of the implementation of health protocols for tourists in the Puncak area.

This step is not only meant to break the chain of spread of COVID-19, but is also considered effective in limiting the number of vehicles and people entering the Puncak Area.
