JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) has confirmed that former Democratic Party politician Angelina Sondakh will be released from the Jakarta Women's Prison on March 3, 2022.

"On March 3, 2022, Angelina Sondakh will be expelled from the Jakarta Women's Prison to start running the leave program before being released," said Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 2.

After receiving the leave program before being released, the 2001 Miss Indonesia will undergo further guidance at the South Jakarta Penitentiary for three months.

"Angline Sondakh has fulfilled the administrative and substantive requirements to be given leave before being released," he said.

While languishing in the Jakarta Women's Prison, Angelina Sondakh was known to actively participate in personality and independence development. These include fashion design, sewing, batik, joining farmer groups and so on.

In addition, he is known to be active in various spiritual activities, for example joining the "one day one juz" group at LPP Class IIA Jakarta. Then, Angelina also joined the memorization group of the Koran.

"Angelina is also active in intellectual activities, for example, joining a green library group," he said.

While at the Jakarta Women's Prison, Angelina Sondakh also made achievements including 1st place in the table tennis competition between women's prisons which included the Jakarta Women's Prison, Tanggerang Women's Prison and Tanggerang Children's Prison.

As additional information, based on the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 107PK/Pid.Sus/2015, Angelina Sondakh was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison (already paid).

Then, he was required to pay a replacement money of IDR 2.5 billion and 1.2 million US dollars, a subsidiary of one year in prison and has been paid IDR 8.8 billion. The rest, IDR 4.5 billion and a subsidiary of four months and five days, were replaced with imprisonment.
