On 69th Anniversary, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Asks Nahdlatul Wathan Cadres To Build A Wasathiyyin Society

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin hopes that the Islamic social organization (ormas) Nahdlatul Wathan will contribute to producing superior human resources (HR) who can play a role in mutual progress.

"Preparing superior human resources is amrun diniyyun syar'iyyun fii 'imaratil ardhi, a religious order according to sharia to prosper the earth," said the vice president at the commemoration of the 69th anniversary of the Nahdlatul Wathan Organization via video conference from Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, March 2.

The vice president mentioned three main things that could be contributed by Nahdlatul Wathan related to the contribution in producing superior human resources. First, build a wasathiyyin society, namely a society that thinks moderately or at-tawassuth, not extreme left or extreme right, not an ifrathiyyin or tafrithyyin generation.

Ma'ruf also hopes that Nahdlatul Wathan can contribute to creating a generation that is obedient to religion and always worships Allah SWT. "Second, build the abidin generation, namely the generation that carries out religious teachings properly according to what Allah SWT has ordered," he continued.

Furthermore, the third, the Vice President emphasized the importance of building generations to prosper the earth for the common good, as ordered by Allah SWT in the Qur'an letter Hud verse 61.

"Allah says huwa ansya`akum minal-arḍi wasta'marakum fīhā. He has created you from the earth (land) and asked you to prosper it and according to scholars it is our responsibility to prosper the earth, both regarding material aspects and civilization," he explained.

Closing his remarks, the Vice President advised Nahdlatul Wathan to continue to make Tuan Guru KH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid a role model in carrying out Islamic da'wah.

"I also hope that the people of Nahdlatul Wathan will continue to emulate Tuan Guru KH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid as the founder and mentor of Nahdlatul Wathan in realizing his grand vision to educate, prosper, and expand the cool and peaceful da'wah of Islam in society and the nation," he said.

Previously, the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Nahdlatul Wathan Fahrurrozi Dahlan said that the largest Islamic organization in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) continues to grow and develop in various regions with a number of social movements for the benefit of the community.

"Nahdlatul Wathan is present as a glue for diversity. The proof is that in all provinces, Nahdlatul Wathan exists in various regions. So Nahdlatul Wathan continues to be developed by the general chairman, injection of struggle, autonomous bodies move massively to jointly advance the principles of struggle, move for social assistance, help government, one of which is related to the scarcity of cooking oil," he said.
