JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the war in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion made the challenges ahead even more unpredictable.

This was conveyed when he opened the TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting at TNI Headquarters which was held today, Tuesday, March 1.

He said that global uncertainty used to be caused only by technological disruption. However, this has changed due to the war between Ukraine and Russia in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In the past, uncertainty was due to technological disruption, revolution 4.0. But coupled with the pandemic, coupled with the war in Ukraine, global uncertainty has spread to uncertainty in any country in the world," said Jokowi when opening the event.

As a result, a new problem has emerged that was previously unheard of. One of them is the scarcity of containers caused by the disruption of trade and rising prices.

"What we never counted before, now all these problems appear," said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"The scarcity of containers, used to be normal, all countries wanted to send anything, send anything they could (because, red) there were enough containers. But now everything is disrupted because of unbalanced trade between countries so that container prices go up, if container prices goes up, the precost goes up, what does it mean? Prices of goods will also go up," added Jokowi.

Not only that, Jokowi also talked about food scarcity. According to him, there are a number of countries that have experienced so that Indonesia is asked to continue to be vigilant.

Next, he mentioned the increase in inflation which led to an increase in all prices. "What does this mean, the burden of the people in wanting to buy goods is also increasing. In all countries like that, be careful," he said.

Then Jokowi also touched on the issue of energy scarcity. He said, before the war, prices went up because they were scarce.

However, now the price has gone up again after the war between Ukraine and Russia. So, all parties are asked to be aware of this.

"Before the war the price went up because of scarcity plus the war the price went up again. Now the price per barrel is above 100 which was previously only 50-60, all countries whose name is fuel prices are all rising, all LPG is going up. Be careful with this," he said.

Finally, he mentioned the increase in production prices caused by the increase in raw material prices to the increase in fuel.

"This is a chain effect like this. So that we understand how uncertainty creates challenges that are not easy," he concluded.
