PONTIANAK - The West Kalimantan Regional Police deployed 1,000 police personnel in the Keselamatan Kapuas Operation 2022 in 14 districts/cities in the province for the next 14 days.

The Director of Traffic for the West Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner (Pol) Mohammad Iqbal said, the Keselamatan Kapuas Operation 2022 was held in order to create conditions for security, safety, order, and smooth traffic (Kamsebtibcar), ahead of the month of Ramadan and also to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19 in West Kalimantan.

He explained that the 2002 Keselamatan Kapuas Operation was carried out from today until March 14, 2022.

He also emphasized that the police will synergize with the TNI and other relevant agencies in this activity, in creating security conditions, safety, order, and smooth traffic, as well as conducting socialization related to the implementation of health protocols in West Kalimantan.

"In the lead up to the Holy Month of Ramadan, we will together create a conducive Kamsebtibcar so that people can carry out their activities calmly and smoothly," he said in Pontianak, Tuesday, March 1.

He also appealed to owners of cafes and coffee shops to comply with existing rules, such as operating a maximum of 21.00 western Indonesia time, and implementing health protocols in deciding not to be exposed to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Pontianak COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Iwan Amriady added, currently the Pontianak COVID-19 Handling Task Force is intensively socializing the curfew rules and visitor capacity that apply to the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 3 in Pontianak City to coffee shop owners and cafe.

"According to the rules from the Minister of Home Affairs and a Circular from the Mayor of Pontianak, coffee shop and cafe business actors must limit their opening time to a maximum of 21.00 western Indonesia time with a visitor capacity of 50 percent of the room," he said.

He explained, regarding the Pontianak Mayor's Circular, the principle is in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 11 of 2022 regarding PPKM Level three.

He said that there would be administrative sanctions for those who violated this in the form of temporarily closing the coffee shop or cafe business, and if there was resistance, the Health Quarantine Law could be threatened, and even the Criminal Code (Book of Criminal Law).

"We socialize this so that it is not unilateral to the community or business actors regarding the sanctions that will later be given, and avoids that these sanctions do not fall on them," he said.
