Electric Short Circuit Causes Furniture And Hazardous Waste Shelters In Pulogadung To Burn Out

JAKARTA - A fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing site and a waste (B3) storage area on Jalan Rawa Sumur, Jatinegara Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta on Saturday, February 26, evening.

The fire has raged fiercely since 22:54 WIB after spreading to a junkyard for several hours.

The process of extinguishing the fire was slow because the materials at the site were flammable. The East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. deployed 20 fire engines with 100 personnel to extinguish the fire.

"We localized the fire at around 00.10 WIB and the cooling process was at 00.22 WIB. The extinguishing operation was completed on Sunday, February 27, in the morning at around 03.45 WIB," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman, Sunday, February 27. It was known to his side when there was a public report on Saturday, February 26, at night, at around 22:54 WIB. He immediately dispatched 20 fire engines to the burning location.

"The objects that were burned were furniture, waste (B3) shelters and junk shelters. The burned objects were 800 square meters in area," he said.

From the results of the officer's investigation, the fire was triggered by a short circuit.

"From the testimony of the witness, the fire was discovered when a resident who was sitting in a coffee shop heard a scream of fire. The witness immediately went to the point where the sound of the fire screamed," he said.

When checking to the sound point, the witness noticed that there was a fire in Mustakim's furniture area, which had caught fire.

"Residents around tried to put out the fire. But the fire was unstoppable and immediately spread to junk and B3 waste," he said.

After several hours of spraying water, officers finally managed to tame the fire. Until this news was written, officers were still collecting data on losses due to the fire. As for the victims, it is still unknown.
