JEMBER - The Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto has reactivated micro PPKM in line with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, which is increasingly worrying, because the trend has continued to increase over the past week in the region.

"Today we will issue a letter for micro PPKM considering the increasing number of cases has become increasingly worrying," he said after reviewing vaccinations in Panti District, Jember Regency, East Java, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 23.

Based on data from the Jember COVID-19 Handling Task Force, additional positive confirmed cases began to show an increase since 14 February 2022 as many as 174 cases, then the next day on 15 February there were 215 new positive cases and continued to increase until its peak on 17 February 2022 reached 311 positive cases. new.

On Sunday, February 20, there were an additional 107 new positive cases, then increased to 146 cases on Monday, February 21 and recorded a new positive addition of 277 cases on Tuesday, February 22.

"It is hoped that the community will obey health protocols, by wearing masks and immediately carrying out vaccinations. Public awareness of these two things is still very minimal in Jember. They are given masks, instead they are pocketed," he said.

In the future, he continued, the task force will more intensively target violators of health protocols in the field, so that it is hoped that the community will help make this a success and things can return to normal soon.

In addition, Hendy also hopes that every sub-district to village/kelurahan will continue to make efforts to accelerate vaccination, especially to accelerate the vaccination of the elderly.

"The babinsa and bhabinkamtibmas are tasked with picking up every elderly person who has difficulty coming to the vaccination site," he said.

He explained that the implementation was good for accelerating vaccination because the target is in early March 2022, Jember has entered the minimum percentage of vaccination for the elderly as much as 40 percent for the second dose.

"If the elderly vaccination has reached 60 percent to 70 percent, then we can only calm down. Jember Regency is still at PPKM Level 2," he said.
