Violating Prokes, Tulungagung DPRD Members Are Demanded A Fine Of IDR 25 Million

TULUNGAGUNG - Tulungagung Regency DPRD member Ahmad Basroni was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 25 million with a subsidiary of 3 months in prison for violating the Health Quarantine Act.

"Based on the presentations of three witnesses at the trial. We have determined the defendant Basroni to be charged with a fine of Rp. 25 million with a subsidiary of 3 months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Agung Pambudi during the reading of the demands at the trial held in the Cakra Session Room of the Tulungagung District Court, East Java, reported by the Jakarta Post. The Public Prosecutor argued that the defendant Basroni had violated Article 14 paragraph (1) of Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Infectious Disease Outbreaks and Article 93 of Law no. 6/2018 on Health Quarantine.

The public prosecutor said that Basroni's status as a member of the DPRD was the weight of the charges against the defendant, not even performing celebrations and puppets during the pandemic.

Moreover, at that time, Tulungagung Regency during the PPKM Level 4 period did not allow any events that invited crowds.

Basroni who was sitting in the chair of the patient looked calm. He continued to listen to the reading of the prosecutor's demands until the end.

In front of the trial, this member of the Tulungagung Regency DPRD from the Gerindra Party immediately filed a verbal defense against the prosecutor's demands. Wearing a blue suit, Basroni presented his legal defense arguments without being accompanied by a lawyer.

"I submitted a verbal defense, Your Honor. I asked for leniency because the celebration that I made for the benefit of the people and traditions every year," said Basroni in self-defense.

The presiding judge responded that the defense which contained the request for waivers was taken into consideration.

In addition, the judge also did not want to delay the trial agenda so that the agenda for the verdict trial was on February 25, 2022.
