DENPASAR - Former Deputy Governor of Bali I Ketut Sudikerta was released from the Class IIA Kerobokan Correctional Institution, in Denpasar, Bali.
The head of the Class IIA Kerobokan Penitentiary, Fikri Jaya Soebing, confirmed Sudikerta's freedom.
"Yes, yesterday, free of assimilation, not pure freedom", said Fikri when contacted, Wednesday, February 23.
Sudikerta was released after being assimilated by COVID-19 under the Regulation of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Permenkum HAM) Number 43 of 2021. It is regulated that prisoners who serve two-thirds of their sentences up to the sixth month or July can be given COVID-19 assimilation to live at home.
"And after he fulfilled these requirements and all kinds of things. We gave him the assimilation", added Fikri.
Sudikerta was free of assimilation on Tuesday, February 22 at around 13.00 WITA. Sudikerta is free with 5 other inmates
"Yesterday, we gave five people assimilation of COVID-19. They left the prison at around one o'clock. After handing over to the Correctional Center (Bapas)", he explained.
Sudikerta can be released due to assimilation because several conditions have been met based on Permenkumham Number 43 of 2021. Inmates who have served two-thirds of their sentence can be given assimilation at home.
"But if (Sudikerta) is completely free, on June 7, 2024, he is purely free. (Meaning) two-thirds, the convict can be given parole if he can serve two-thirds of the sentence", he said.
"With the (assimilation) of COVID-19, with Ministerial Regulation 43 can be given assimilation. So free assimilation under the supervision of the Correctional Agency. After that he was released on parole", he said.

After receiving assimilation, Sudikerta will be supervised by the Denpasar Class I of Correctional Agency.
